The first full day in two parts!

The view from the cafe at the top of our hotel.

Our place was pretty nice although the service was moody. The best part by far was the dreamy breakfasts. Every morning we would go to the top of the hotel and enjoy Turkish bread, bread circles with sesame seeds (simit), feta cheese, chewy rolls, yogurt, cucumbers, coffee, tea, granola, and some meats. I had forgotten how glorious Turkish food was and it soon became one of the highlights of the trip for both of us.

Inside Hagia Sofia/ Aya Sofia

After inspecting a small mosaic museum, we made our way to Aya Sofia. If you have ever taken a basic art history class, you would have seen this church turned mosque turned Unesco World Heritage site in the architecture chapter. Can you spot Jeremy?

In the Cisterns under Istanbul- sorry for the crummy pics. My camera is afraid of the dark
